Studio Kukkapuro opens to the public in august-september
Interior architect Yrjö Kukkapuro’s and graphic artist Irmeli Kukkapuro’s studio and home, built in Kauniainen in 1968, will be opened to the public for the first time. The opportunity to visit the studio is exceptional since the artist couple still works there.
Produced by the Hapnik collective as part of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 programme, the body of events consists of a studio exhibition, guided tours of the studio, and Futura happenings. Visitors now have a singular opportunity to tour the charming studio, built in 1968, of the artist couple Yrjö and Irmeli Kukkapuro, who still live next to the studio.
This is the first time the studio has opened to the public for such an extensive period of time. The only other time the studio has briefly opened its doors to visitors was during the Open Helsinki event last year.
The studio exhibition will run until 30 September. For guided group tours of the studio in Finnish, Swedish or English, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Admission to the exhibition is free, but any voluntary donations made will go towards running the Futura happenings.
